The Do No Harm Framework is a tool for designers to model scenarios against unintended consequences of our work. When applied to emerging technologies, it helps us to better understand and weigh risks before they turn into real-world harm.

AI is everywhere. It’s integrated around us constantly, in services and products where we may not even notice it. So far we’ve had hallucinations, false promises in potential for AI hardware, and “revenge porn” deepfakes, in equal measure to potentially life changing applications in disease detection and climate change science.

What should we be preparing for with the advent of increasingly sophisticated AI rollouts?

Join us for a 90-minute deep dive into navigating these unchartered waters with our Do No Harm Framework and learn more about how digital designers everywhere can create an ethical, intentional design practice within this space while also following ambitious ideas.

About the speakers:

Toby Whelan is an UX Designer at Designit in Oslo, transitioning from his early career in industrial design to specialise in user experience with a keen focus on human-centred design principles. Whelan is dedicated to prototyping innovative solutions that blend his insights in human behavior with his passion for socially purposeful design. Beyond his professional endeavours, Whelan practices music production, leveraging his technical expertise to experiment with new methods of music creation. His dual interests in design and music reflect his broader commitment to using technology to enhance creative expression with a playful approach
