Jonny Duddle is an award winning author and illustrator from Wales. After a few years of doing silly jobs (square-rig sailor, kids’ holiday clubs, art teaching in Africa and high school art teacher) he worked for a decade in the UK computer games industry, as a 3D modeller and concert artist. He left games when he was offered his first book contract and split his time between picture books and designing characters for Aardman’s ‘Pirates!’ movie.

Since then he has written and illustrated ten of his own books, doodled covers for other authors, including J.K.Rowling, Terry Pratchett and Philip Reeve, and designed characters for two animated TV series based on his own creations, ‘The Pirates Next Door’ and most recently ‘Gigantosaurus’, which is currently showing on Disney Junior.

Jonny’s lecture will examine the relationship between his illustration work and animation, how the two disciplines feed each other and influence story development, and his process for generating ideas, character design and narrative illustration.

It is important for everybody to be there 15 min before the event starts to not delay the speaker. The lecture will be held in english.
